About Dustin
Dustin (the clear winner in the “how many of the letters from your name were used to make your couple nickname?” game) is an ex-software geek turned non-profit technology strategist and musician wannabe, at least according to his Twitter profile. He is also a keen spotter of Audis (especially the S and RS varieties). If the adage “you are what you eat” is true, then Dustin is 97.5% sugar, butter, flour, and cocoa. He fancies himself a decent amateur photographer, but the truth is he rarely takes his point-and-shoot off the Auto setting. Dustin used to have long hair (and has photos to prove it), but he couldn’t really pull off “the look”, so now he keeps his hair short and easy, which drives his long curly-haired wife crazy. He is passionate about playing music (which he doesn’t do nearly often enough), technology (which he probably does too much), and getting outside for exercise (when he doesn’t pull a “Frayzhe” on his friends). He is also somewhat anal. Somewhat. Lastly, but most importantly, Dustin is madly in love with his new wife Laura and is looking forward to getting to know her better as they travel the world together and figure out what they want to be when they grow up.

About Laura
Laura is feeling stressed at the moment because she just read Dustin’s “About Me” and is pretty sure she can’t compete with it. I mean, who gets a husband like this guy?! She is a very lucky woman indeed. Laura is passionate about a few things: her dimpled husband, great family, and incredible circle of friends (of course); being outside (especially camping on a hidden lake in the Sierras or walking a coastal trail in Marin); food (she’s still not sure how she’ll survive a year without the Zuni Cafe chicken, but she’s going to try); the written word (“books” seems to be too limiting a word since technically US Weekly doesn’t fall into that category); music (she’s an excellent music listener and will challenge anyone to a “name that Baroque oratorio!” showdown, but as for actually playing instruments, well, not so much); and of course Nutmeg, the little lady with the high-pitched meows and furry paws who loves her belly rubs. Laura feels incredibly fortunate to be able to do a trip like this with the man she loves, and hopes to return home in a year with a better appreciation of our little blue planet. And probably also toilet paper.
