Feliz Navidad!

Feliz Navidad from Buenos Aires! It’s in the 90’s down here and there’s not a Christmas tree in sight, but we’re managing to make the most of our holiday away from home. I made my great-grandmother’s meatballs and homemade sauce for Christmas Eve dinner last night, and we invited Kate and James, two British friends we met in Torres del Paine, to join us for dinner in the apartment we’re staying in here in BA.

We’d heard rumors that there’d be fireworks at midnight on Christmas Eve, so we headed out on to our terrace around then to investigate. Check out the video below to see what we found. Nothing says “the birth of Jesus” like an entire city erupting in late-night pyrotechnic insanity… :)

We’re making the most of our South American Christmas, but the truth is, we can’t wait to get home to see our friends and family. After a year on the road and so many holidays and birthdays missed, we’re just kind of ready to be home. We hope that all of you are with your loved ones over the holidays – give them an extra squeeze and tell them that you love them.

Merry Christmas!

With most restaurants in BA closed on Christmas Eve and the not-too-shabby views from our apartment, dinner at home seemed like the way to go.

Chilling (literally) with Kate and James (and a few Pisco Sours) at the Grey Glacier in Torres del Paine…

… and in slightly warmer climes on Christmas Eve.
