Felicitaciones, Clara y Eric!

We’ve been offline a few weeks due to a medical emergency here in Spain (not to worry, everything is fine now… we’ll post a full report here later today), but we’re back online and wanted to say “Congratulations!” to our friends and fellow globetrotters Clara and Eric, who just got engaged on Sunday. Quite randomly, we’ve now had the good fortune of meeting up with them four times in the last couple of months (in Cinque Terre and on a farm stay in Dozza, Italy, and in Sevilla and Granada in Spain), and we’ve really enjoyed swapping travel stories and hearing about their amazing adventures. You can read all about their travels on their SF Nomads travel blog.

They’re on their way home now, and on the last day of their trip, Eric proposed to Clara on the rooftop of their apartment in Granada just a few hours after we’d had drinks with them. We couldn’t be happier for them, and in honor of our serendipitous meet-ups and their recent engagement, we’ve updated our blog banner photo to include the two of them and a few of our feline and canine friends from the farm stay in Dozza. Felicitaciones y seguro regreso a casa, Clara y Eric! We’re still half expecting to see you at some point in South America. :)

[Note: We’ve updated our blog banner since this entry was posted, but we’ve included the original photo of the four of us below. Hard to resist puppies and kittens, especially three-legged ones!]

Are Eric and Clara friends from home, or friends you met on your travels?

Nancy, Clara worked with Laura and me at Room to Read. She and her now-fiancée Eric left a few weeks before we did on their own year-long adventure.

YAY! Thanks guys. We loved having someone to share the adventure with for a while, and I can't wait to read more about your latest adventures. Re-entry has had its ups and downs.... Love seeing family and mexican food, hate seeing stupid people with matching hats saying things like, "Welcome to America. Now speak English, or get out." So enjoy your last few months on the road, and we'll be thinking of you guys!
